What does Parlay bet mean

A parlay bet combines multiple individual wagers into a single bet, common in sports betting. Also known as an accumulator, combo bet, or multi, all of the combined bets, or "legs", must win for the parlay to pay out. If one bet loses, the entire parlay loses. A parlay links at least two or even more bets into one wager. These bets don't have to be the same type and can include moneyline wagers, spread bets, over/under bets, props, and futures.

Because all bets involved must win for the parlay to pay out, the risk is higher than a single-game bet. Sportsbooks offer larger payouts for more games added to a parlay.

Parlay odds are calculated by multiplying the odds of each individual bet together, which can result in high odds and potential payouts. For example, if you placed a three-team parlay with odds of +150, +200, and +300, the potential payout would be significantly higher than if you placed each bet separately.

To win a parlay bet, each individual wager within the parlay must be successful. If even one leg fails, the entire parlay bet loses. However, if a selection results in a push, it is removed from the parlay, and the odds are recalculated accordingly.

Traditional bookmakers typically do not allow correlated parlays, which are two or more bets from the same game that rely on a closely related outcome. However, some newer apps now allow these. For example, a classic three-team NFL parlay could involve the Dallas Cowboys -2.5, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers +4, and the Kansas City Chiefs -10. For the parlay to win, the Chiefs must win by at least 11 points, the Cowboys must win by at least three points, and the Buccaneers must win outright or lose by less than four points. If even one of these bets loses, the entire parlay loses.
